A Demo Carousel for Bob
The owner of this 2001 GMC Savanna Conversion van wanted a home on wheels for camping and weekend get aways. She wanted a large bed, a dinette for eating or playing cards, a kitchen with water, fridge and microwave, a port-a-potty. She requested an Indoor AC to help keep her new camper incognito in the neighborhood. She also wanted more headroom than she had, and wanted extra seating for bringing friends and family on trips. An awning was a must and lots of cabinets & storage! She picked out her formica, fabric and requested earth-tones and linoleum rather than carpet. Bob began designing and creating! The rear couch seat, ceiling decorative bezel, tiny cubby type cabinets and carpet was removed. Outside we installed a 9ft. 10 in. boxed awning, external cable connection, external power outlet, fresh water fill and shore power connections! Inside we began by installing an indoor 14,000 BTU AC/Heat unit complete with cabinetry to hold it in place and venting, modern black & silver to match the fridge and microwave. We decided to go with U Shape seating; this gave her the room she needed and a large bed configuration. Seatbelts and custom created tweed upholstery made a dinette and bed. On the passenger side, we left just enough room to create a matching, laminated end table and cabinet with an outlet! We installed a Fantastic Fan in the ceiling and put up new headliner. Cabinets as the customer requested, were created in almond melamine and designed to allow center headroom for them to be able to stand inside the coach. A few pieces of the original wood trim was resized and used to add beauty and uniformity. Notice that the cabinet door were designed to open down, instead of up, for ease of use. We added a 19" flat screen TV/DVD that also drops down either for viewing comfort or to gain access to the cabinet behind it! We chose a light colored/earth tone linoleum by Tarkett for its soft feel on the feet and its endurance. We custom made the privacy curtains and rear curtains. The customer had us put in a pressure water system with a 16 gallon fresh water tank, and she upgraded to 2 AGM batteries, 1500 watt inverter to runs her coach when she is not plugged in. When the coach is plugged, using an automatic switching system, it switches to shore power. We put in lights, and rear reading lights and to her surprise re-installed the original moodlighting. We also included a carbon monoxide alarm. This GMC is a beautiful Class B RV, her home away from home!
